Description

The background is the walls of a house, with a light colored door and some signs on it. It looks like there are stairs coming to the door.

The main focuses of the painting are the five women walking down the street. They seem busy. They wear different skirts, they look like traditional dresses villagers would wear, but every woman wears a different type of skirt. They all are wearing scarves over their head and white shirts.

The woman in the front seems young by the way she walks. She is wearing a simple skirt with black lines at its edge. Her scarf is tied or just brushed behind her neck. She is walking semi straight.

The second woman seems older or is just walking more slumped over. Her skirt is shorter than the skirt of the woman in front, but otherwise it is pretty similar. Her scarf is tied or brushed toward the front.

The third woman is taller than the one in front and seems to wear something grey over her shoulders. The black line on her skirt is set higher. The fourth woman is the tallest and has the darkest skirt. That skirt also has ruffles at the front. Her scarf is also darker. The last woman’s skirt seems to be made out of two parts, and has a ruffle at the front.

The women seem weary but not over tired, accented with the fact that the women are going somewhere in a determined manner. The painting evokes an expectant feeling.
