The painting depicts what looks like an empty dance hall. The floor is a dull brown tile, and the wall is an equally dull mix of brown and yellow. Between them there is a darker line of brown, separating them.

The real star of the painting is the ballet dancer in the middle. The woman is in a leg hold and is wearing a full leotard. Her leg is extended straight up and to the side. The hand is touching the tip of her toes. She is looking to the side, her expression concentrated, and what we can see of her skin is slick with sweat.

The pattern of the leotard is the most colorful thing in the painting. It is covered in large circles or different shades of blue, red yellow, black and white. The woman’s hair is in a light blue cap.  The woman’s ballet shoes are white.

The painting has an air of concentration and one can find themselves admiring the perfect form of the dancer.
